Tuppco Delivers 1-Day Lantra Post Driver Training in Coventry

Tuppco recently delivered a successful one-day Lantra Post Driver course in Coventry.

Helping six operators develop their skills and demonstrate their competence on a brand-new, high-specification Protech tracked compact post driver.

The training was particularly well timed, as Hawkesbridge Fencing had recently invested in the new machine to support a major HS2 contract, where having both the right equipment and appropriately trained operators is essential.

On-site Post Driver Training in Coventry

The course took place at Hawkesbridge Fencing’s yard in Coventry, allowing all six candidates to train and complete their assessments on the actual machine they would be using in their day-to-day work.

Tuppco specialises in delivering practical, on-site training using a company’s own machinery and working environment. This approach gives operators the opportunity to learn the controls, capabilities and safe operating procedures of the equipment they will actually encounter on site.

The Lantra Post Driver course is designed to give operators the knowledge and practical experience needed to operate post drivers safely and competently. The one-day course covers areas including machine safety, pre-start checks, machine controls, travelling and manoeuvring, post-driving operations and practical assessment.

A High-Specification Protech Tracked Compact Post Driver

Hawkesbridge Fencing’s new Protech tracked compact post driver is a high-specification machine, equipped with a number of features designed to improve operator control, versatility and productivity.

The machine includes:

  • Self-levelling mast
  • Remote control operation
  • Hydraulic post clamps
  • Tracked compact configuration for working across challenging terrain

With the machine being destined for work on a large HS2 contract, ensuring operators were properly trained and confident with the equipment was an important part of getting the new machine ready for work.

Six Operators Put Through Their Paces

The day provided plenty of opportunities for discussion, with a number of interesting points raised around machine operation, safety and working practices.

All six Hawkesbridge Fencing candidates had the opportunity to showcase their skills on the new Protech machine. The practical element gave each operator the chance to demonstrate their ability to safely prepare, manoeuvre and operate the post driver, while the theory element tested their understanding of safe working practices and the responsibilities that come with operating specialist machinery.

We’re pleased to report that all six candidates successfully passed both the theory and practical elements of the Lantra course.

Lantra states that successful candidates completing the required standard are awarded a certificate of competence and Lantra Skills ID card for their chosen certificate option.

Training on the Machine You Actually Use

One of the biggest advantages of Tuppco’s on-site training is that operators can be trained on their own machinery, rather than learning on an unfamiliar training machine.

For businesses investing in new plant and machinery, this can be particularly valuable. Operators become familiar with the specific controls and features of their equipment while training takes place in a working environment relevant to their business.

Tuppco delivers accredited Lantra, NPORS and Qualsafe training, with on-site courses available across the Midlands, South West and wider UK.

What Other Machinery Can Tuppco Train Operators On?

Post driver training is just one part of the machinery training available from Tuppco. Depending on the machine and operator requirements, Tuppco can deliver on-site training and assessment on a wide range of plant and land-based equipment.

Courses include training for:

Tuppco’s current training portfolio includes both Lantra and NPORS courses, with training designed around the machine, working environment and requirements of the business.

Congratulations to the Hawkesbridge Fencing Team

It was a great day at Hawkesbridge Fencing, with plenty of practical experience, discussion and knowledge shared throughout the course.
