Tuppco deliver two days of NPORS Experienced Worker Tests (EWTs) in Gloucestershire for K Yateman and Sons.

The assessments covered two types of construction plant machinery: 360 excavators and forward tipping dumpers. The two-day assessment gave candidates the opportunity to demonstrate their existing skills, knowledge and practical experience operating the machinery in a working environment.

NPORS 360 Excavator Experienced Worker Tests

The 360 excavator assessments required candidates to demonstrate their practical operating skills through a series of tasks designed to assess their ability to safely and competently operate the machine.

The practical assessment included:

• Excavating a trench: Digging a trench measuring 15 metres in length, one bucket width wide and one metre deep.
• Loading a dumper: Demonstrating safe and accurate loading techniques.
• Travelling over slopes: Showing an understanding of machine stability, safe manoeuvring and operating techniques when travelling across sloping ground.

These tasks allowed candidates to demonstrate their existing experience, accuracy and control when operating a 360 excavator, alongside their awareness of safe working practices.

NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper Experienced Worker Tests

The forward tipping dumper assessments focused on the candidates’ ability to operate the machinery safely and confidently across a range of practical tasks commonly encountered on construction and groundworks sites.

The practical assessment included:

• Navigating a chicane: Demonstrating steering control, manoeuvring and awareness of the surrounding working area.
• Being loaded by an excavator: Positioning the dumper correctly and safely to receive a load.
• Travelling over slopes: Demonstrating safe operation and maintaining machine stability when travelling across sloping ground.
• Tipping loads over stop blocks: Showing control and accuracy when positioning and tipping materials.

These exercises assessed the candidates’ ability to handle a forward tipping dumper safely, efficiently and with confidence in a realistic working environment.

All Candidates Successfully Passed

Across the two days, the candidates demonstrated their existing experience and practical competence on both types of machinery.

We’re pleased to confirm that all candidates passed their NPORS theory and practical tests.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you to K Yateman and Sons for choosing Tuppco to carry out their NPORS Experienced Worker Tests in Gloucestershire.
