Lantra ATV Sit-Astride Training Delivered for Ubico at South Cerney Depot
Lantra ATV Sit-Astride Training Delivered for Ubico at South Cerney Depot
Tuppco recently delivered Lantra ATV Sit-Astride Training for operators from Ubico at their South Cerney Depot.
Despite the damp weather conditions throughout the day, the training provided an excellent opportunity for both candidates to experience realistic operating conditions they are likely to encounter during their day-to-day roles.
The course was designed to help learners develop the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence required to safely operate all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in a range of working environments. The training combined classroom-based theory with practical riding exercises, ensuring delegates understood both safe operating procedures and real-world application.
ATVs, often referred to as quad bikes, are commonly used across grounds maintenance, environmental services, agriculture, estates management, and land-based industries. While highly versatile, they require competent operators who understand vehicle limitations, terrain hazards, and safe working practices.
During the training, delegates covered:
- Pre-use inspections and safety checks
- ATV controls and vehicle familiarisation
- Safe riding techniques
- Hazard awareness and risk management
- Operating on varying terrain and slopes
- Loading, towing, and attachment considerations
- End-of-shift procedures and vehicle care
By successfully completing the course, learners demonstrated their ability to operate sit-astride ATVs safely and effectively in accordance with Lantra standards and industry best practice.
Why ATV Training Is Important
ATVs can be extremely effective vehicles when used correctly, but improper operation can result in accidents, vehicle damage, and serious injury. Professional ATV training helps operators understand safe riding techniques, hazard identification, terrain assessment, and vehicle handling, helping organisations improve safety and compliance.
