A stump grinder is a machine designed to remove tree stumps by grinding the remaining wood and root structure into small woodchips. Stump grinders can range from compact, pedestrian-controlled machines similar in size to a lawn mower, through to larger self-propelled or vehicle-mounted units. The machine uses a high-speed rotating cutter wheel fitted with fixed carbide teeth, which gradually grinds the stump below ground level. The movement of the cutter wheel is typically controlled using hydraulic systems, allowing the operator to move the cutting head laterally across the stump and raise or lower it as required. Stump grinders are commonly used within arboriculture, landscaping, construction, and land management environments where tree removal has taken place.
Tuppco can deliver onsite training nationwide using venue and equipment supplied
The objective of the Lantra Stump Grinders (ARB11) course with TUPPCO Training is to ensure that participants understand how to safely operate stump grinding equipment, while minimising risks to people, property, and machinery.
By the end of the course, learners will be competent and confident in using stump grinders safely and effectively in professional environments.
Upon successful completion of the Lantra Stump Grinders (ARB11) course with TUPPCO Training, learners will receive a nationally recognised Lantra Awards certificate. This qualification demonstrates that operators are competent in the safe use, setup, and maintenance of stump grinding machinery, suitable for arboriculture, landscaping, and forestry operations.
